“Mosquitoes the Size of Elephants” — Inside the Nightmare of Alligator Alcatraz

A migrant detained at the controversial “Alligator Alcatraz” facility has gone viral after revealing shocking conditions from inside the tent camp in the Everglades.

“There’s no water to bathe… I haven’t showered in four days,” the inmate told a reporter. He claims 400 people are packed into the site, where lights stay on 24/7 and the food — served just once a day — “has worms.”

Though the average temperature outside is 89°F, he says the tents are “freezing,” and the mosquitoes are “the size of elephants.”

His partner says he’s a permanent U.S. resident, arrested last week.
