He wore a mask and a fake badge—then he started shooting…

America just got a rude awakening. A man wearing a silicone mask and dressed in fake police gear has been indicted in what prosecutors call a calculated campaign of political assassinations.

Meet Vance Luther Boelter — a 57-year-old from Green Isle who now faces the death penalty after carrying out one of the most chilling attacks in recent political history. According to a six-count federal indictment, Boelter targeted four Democratic lawmakers. He allegedly mapped their homes on Google, dressed up as a cop, and executed the plan with terrifying precision.

On the night of June 14, Boelter reportedly entered the Brooklyn Park home of Minnesota House Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark. Disguised in a wig and cop uniform, he shot Mark first before chasing Melissa up the stairs and killing her. Even their dog, Gilbert, was shot and killed as he tried to protect them.

That same night, he stormed Senator John Hoffman’s home in Champlin, shooting the senator nine times and his wife Yvette eight times. The couple’s daughter Hope only survived because her parents shielded her with their own bodies.

Investigators found chilling notes in Boelter’s possession, including a notebook with entries like: “If you want to save the country you have to get your hands dirty.” A confession letter blamed Minnesota Governor Tim Walz for conspiracies tied to “Senate seat murders.” He claimed off-the-books military training and seemed fully convinced he was on a mission to “fix America.”

After a 43-hour manhunt, Boelter was finally arrested. Federal prosecutors have filed special findings to pursue the death penalty. The political implications of this act—and the vulnerability of public figures—has sent shockwaves across both parties.

This isn’t just a twisted crime story. It’s a sign of just how far radicalization can go.
