The mystery of a missing person, which had been unsolved for ten years, was shockingly resolved in an unexpected manner.

The parents of 25-year-old Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada reported him missing on November 28, 2009, following his furious run-away from home.

His parents revealed that he had been acting strangely, most likely because he was taking medication.

Murillo-Moncada remained missing despite protracted searches by multiple law enforcement agencies, leaving his family in the dark.

The Unexpected Discovery

While dismantling shelves and coolers from the defunct No Frills Supermarket in Council Bluffs, Iowa, in January 2019, a group of employees discovered something startling.

A former employee’s body was discovered wedged beneath several shelves.

Later on, it came to light that Larry Ely Murillo-Moncada was the owner of the body.

Investigators surmise that he had climbed up on top of the coolers, something that workers frequently do when working shifts. But he was stuck when he slipped into an 18-inch opening between a cooler and the wall.

He had no way out because the compressor noise from the coolers probably drowned out any pleas for assistance.

Identification and Closure

Murillo-Moncada’s clothing at the time of his abduction matched the DNA found on his body, which was identified using the DNA of his parents.

Regretfully, the revelation supported his mother’s notion that he never left the grocery store.

A Unique Case

For the authorities, the finding of Murillo-Moncada’s body beneath the shelves almost ten years after his disappearance was a singular and exceptional occurrence.

After an examination, it was determined that the man’s death was accidental because there were no traces of trauma.
